The inauguration of the 5th International Art Biennial of Espinho took place on the 25th of April at the Espinho Municipal Museum, to be held until June 22. It is an initiative organized by Espinho City Hall, with the support of the Tapeçarias Ferreira de Sá Company, which follows the last four editions of the "Bienal Internacional Femmes d'Artes".
In this sense, the City Council of Espinho and Taperçarias Ferreira de Sá, wanting to highlight gender equality, took the initiative to open the Bienal to both sexes, in order to establish a wider platform for the promotion and promotion of the plastic arts , as well as recognition of their creators and creators.
For this initiative, 268 artists from eighteen countries and the jury of the Biennial, made up of Professor Maria José Goulão, Professor Dr. Luís Fortunato Lima, both from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto, the artist and potter Yola Vale, and the Architect Nuno Ferreira de Sá, representing Tapeçarias Ferreira de Sá, selected 41 works for the exhibition that together with the works of the four invited artists are celebrated contemporary art.
The invited jury was responsible for awarding three monetary prizes to three highlighted artworks, and Tapeçarias Ferreira de Sá contributed to the first prize "Grand Prize Tapeçarias Ferreira de Sá" in the amount of € 5,000 and awarded the artist Rafael Oliveira with the work "It Was Yesterday, 2016/19" an oil painting without canvas.
